The Bush is the third and last installment of my Pride Flower series (Pride Shoes and Pride Circle). This design was born out the of the idea to put in on a backpack or some other sort of bag.
The branch is a whipped backstitch with three strands, the leaves are lazy daises with three strands, and the flowers are woven wheels, also with three strands.
The Process
Transfer
I once again used my trusted technique of masking tape on the iPad Screen. With the tape, the iPad screen is not slippery anymore allowing me to the fabric directly on the screen and trace the design with an erasable ball pen.
Stitching
The stitches on the project are rather straight forward and easy to do. I followed the lines of the stem and made backstitches along the way. Once all the backstitching was done, I whipped all at once in one sitting.
For the next step, I mentally prepared myself to make a lot of lazy daises. I mean, a lot! The stitch is easy enough to make quite some quick progress. Since there are so many of them, I didn’t knot, cut, and start a new thread after each one. Once one was done, I made a knot and moved on to the next one.
To wrap up the stitching, I added the woven wheels for the Rainbow Flowers. I made that there was no gap between the wheel and the stem.
Cleanup and Framing
Once I was done, I hit the fabric with a bit of heat from the iron to turn the markings invisible. I liked this piece so much, that I decided to frame it. To do so, I wrapped the fabric around the acrylic sheet that came with the frame and secured it on the back with a leader stitch.
All done and ready to hang!
