This idea came as a follow-up to the Pride Shoes I had previously made. I had a feeling that the branch had the potential for other shapes as well. My first idea was the circle. This project had no other purpose than simply doing it.

Same as the shoes, this project consists of a whipped backstitch with three strands for the base, the leaves are a leaf stitch with three strands, and the flowers are woven wheels, also with three strands.

The Process

Transfer

The fabric I was using is quite thin and not woven tightly, allowing me to directly transfer from my iPad to the fabric. I typically apply some masking tape to the screen of my iPad to reduce its slipperiness. Next, I place the fabric in the embroidery hoop and trace with an erasable ball pen (more on that later).

Stitching

I began with the whipped backstitch section because it becomes harder to access later, and I didn’t want to risk damaging the woven wheels. The flowers were next, which were simply regular woven wheels.
While working on the leaves, I made sure to come as close to the base as possible to avoid creating any gaps.

Wrapping up

This is where the magic of erasable ball pens comes in. These pens are erasable because their ink turns transparent when exposed to heat. By pressing the iron against the fabric, you can remove all the markings. However, be aware that the ink will reappear at low temperatures, near freezing point.
